Leather Mosaic for Dia de Los Muertos 2009

Working on my latest piece. A 6 x 6 foot leather Mosaic honoring the four Oakland Police Officers killed on March 21st. Today I'm almost finished with the four faces. This is week four spent the faces alone. I've been shooting photos of the process with my Pentax K20D using the intervalometer. I'll put the photos together in iMovie later to create a stop motion animation video. I've done this once before with the mosaic I made for my dad who was killed last year.

You can view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9CAUW156Oc

or look up Ascension of John Long on YouTube.

  2. This stop motion video and your leather Mosaic is so amazing. The mosaic is so sick. Your honorable dedication and confrontation with your dad's death is amazing to watch and it's truly inspiring. Sorry for your loss. What you have done for your dad is touching and shows how much inner strength you have. See you in class!
