Art gallery

Hey guys I gotta to go to this interesting gallery in downtown danville.
Its called the Kevin Milligan gallery. The top most painting was done by Kevin Milligan himself, he is both an artist and art dealer. The flower paintings were done by an artist who I can't remember his name atm but his work was featured at the de young museum.
anyway here are the photos.

These above works of art are on display at the Oakland Museum in the California History exhibit. These particular pieces stood out to me, as I have a strong interest in political/protest art.

"Still Point"
Artist: Hung Liu

According to Liu, "The oil washes and drips that seep through my paintings contribute to a sense of loss while dissolving the historical authenticity of the photographs I paint from".

new gallery

i went to a new gallery in hayward called cinema place gallery. I had been getting emails about it so i checked it out. it opened only a couple months ago. I saw a variety of work/media there that were all interesting. I chatted with the gallery person there and told her i was an art/biology student at csueb. She then asked me if would be interested in showing some work there and told me to put down my email on a paper that is for them to keep in contact. I told her all about others in the class who may be interested also and she said sure. So if ur interested in maybe showing ur work there, u can go down there and give them ur name and email. they are really interested in students right now because they are trying to put together a show with work by young students to college students. Here are some pics of some of the stuff i like that is currently there.

sorry the pics may be a little crappy because i took them with my cell phone

(Still more of!) The Dickson Schneider Show (installation)

The Dickson Schneider Show (installation)

Io (Standing), 2005

Stephen Wirtz Galley / artist: Kiki Smith (Veins and Arteries behind the figure also by Kiki Smith) - I liked the piece for its delicate elegance. I was surprised that its porcelain - I thought it was stone or bronze casting...

Toomey - Tourell Gallery (49 Geary St) Artist, Joe Thurstan. The piece feels like a map. I was impressed with the carving of the wood surface done by hand. It made me wonder if he did this with board upright - I can't imagine leaning over to do such small chisel work!
Stephen Wirtz Galley / artist: Jim Hodges / Liked this for the whimsey - I noticed that times were different (in reference to images of watches from magazines set to 10:10)
