new gallery

i went to a new gallery in hayward called cinema place gallery. I had been getting emails about it so i checked it out. it opened only a couple months ago. I saw a variety of work/media there that were all interesting. I chatted with the gallery person there and told her i was an art/biology student at csueb. She then asked me if would be interested in showing some work there and told me to put down my email on a paper that is for them to keep in contact. I told her all about others in the class who may be interested also and she said sure. So if ur interested in maybe showing ur work there, u can go down there and give them ur name and email. they are really interested in students right now because they are trying to put together a show with work by young students to college students. Here are some pics of some of the stuff i like that is currently there.

sorry the pics may be a little crappy because i took them with my cell phone

  1. I'm sbmttg 2 pieces to this gallery on the 11th for a showing from mid-March to April 8th. I'm not sure they'll be accepted as after i sbmttd the Inventory paper work, I found out that work cannot be political, pornagraphic, etc. The work I'm sbmttg is "Returned Undeliverable" 1 & 2 which is a commentary about industrial American & European countries selling their electronic waste to 3rd world countries. The processes in retrieving re-useable parts and elements is extremely toxic and is busily causing cancer and destroying the local environment (India, China, South Aftrica....). How fair and responsible is that. I also feel like a hypocrite in my ranting and paintings b/c I use the very instrument of their poisoning to do my ranting. But I digress! I don't know if any one will catch the environmental issue in the work b/c they're basically landscapes, but who knows. All I can say is that if art is meant to make note of the world around us, eliminating issues like politics, even pornography seems to be a way making artists mute.
