After showing pictures of what I’ve been working on during our Senior Seminar/Portfolio class, I thought that I would share some information and a video about a current piece that I have been doing. I attempted to record myself painting right before the end of summer and I can definitely say that it is a bad video. Nevertheless, it shows me in action.
I’ve been working on a piece that has two stages to it and has been taking me a long time to complete. I finished the first stage, which just involved painting the piece. I’m now working on the second stage and it is making me go absolutely insane. I lost count, but I think I made well over 150 palm-sized pills and capsules out of wood and clay and I still have a ways to go. I will write about how it's progressing (or not progressing) and I’ll take pictures for you to see. I’m really scared about whether or not this is all going to work, but I guess that’s how you learn things –trial and error.
In the video, I agree, the canvas looks like Jackson went completely insane and got into a fight with macaroni and cheese. The lighting makes the canvas look yellow, but it’s actually orange. I also agree that the video is a little boring, but it’s a glimpse of what I’ve been doing.

What are you going to do with the pills? Are you going to incorporate them in your splash painting?
ReplyDeleteOK, so I actually have three stages. The first stage involved just painting the piece; the second stage involves creating the pills; and the third stage consists of somehow getting those pills onto the painted piece and praying every night to the Art Gods in hopes that the pills won't come off or snap off too easily (my biggest nightmare). I've been thinking about different ways to get them on, but I'll experiment with different adhesives to see which will work best.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of Photographing your process.Nice post. Why the mask? Swine Flu" down there?... joking..I'm really interested in the painting in the background? is that a real painting or a back splash?..It looks real and natural and truly random. I like that about it.
